Importance of personality aspect in a psychologist?s preparation for work in the primary school is exposed. Development of professionally important qualities in the conditions of university study is investigated. In the course of research there is ascertained that the success of a psychologist?s work with children of junior school age is conditioned by some complex of professionally important qualities. A list with 48 such qualities is proposed. They are united into 12 groups, the criterion of semantic affinity forming the basis. The investigation of a level of such qualities development in future psychologists has shown that on each year of studying there is a considerable percent of students with a low level of development of professionally important qualities. The conclusion is made about spontaneous character of these qualities forming in the traditional conditions of study at higher educational institutions. The importance is ascertained of the maximum approximating the instruction process at those institutions to the demands of future professional activity. A special training program directed to develop professionally important qualities in future psychologists for work in the primary school has been created. The effectiveness of training program has been demonstrated in the course of its testing.
