The thesis highlights theoretical grounds and experimentally tested methods of the controlled formation of primary pupils’ spelling competence. The devised methodical system is aimed at the step-by-step formation of skills that are common for the most of spelling activities: identifying sound-letter orthograms on the basis of the knowledge of correlative properties of sound groups, conditioning the character of orthograms and possible method of solving a spelling problem.
