Essay

It was found that the same tetanic stimulation elicited post-tetanic depression (PTD) of the evoked IPSCs and posttetanic potentiation (PTP) in rat cultured hippocampal neurones. It was found that a background release probability is lower in the 'PTP connections' then in the 'PTD' connections. It was shown that alteration of GABAergic synaptic transmission contributes to homeostatic plasticity in hippocampal neuronal networks.
