Essay

The thesis deals with teaching senior pupils discussing burning teen's problems in English. The problems have been divided into complicated and simple. The methodology of teaching how to discuss problems has been theoretically substantiated and practically developed. Discussing problems takes place in the process of cross-cultural communication and is simulated through role plays. Discussing problems is based on the problematic-communicative situations. A classification of such situations has been done. Three stages of teaching pupils discussing problems have been specified: propaedeutic, preparatory and basic. A special system of exercises to teach discussing problems in English has been created. Two series of experiment were conducted to prove the validity of the methodology suggested and to find out the ways to discuss complicated and simple problems.
