Essay

The dissertation is devoted to investigation of main approaches to the notion of justification in contemporary analytical philosophy. We examine the role that justification plays in the construction of the system of epistemological foundations. This allows us to show that justification plays a key role in an indication of some particular type of epistemology. We begin by looking at some main characteristic aspects of contemporary analytical epistemology and note that it is mainly represented by two epistemological types - classical and non-classical types. This leads us into an investigation of conditions for the formulation the principles of the new post-non-classical epistemological type. We proceed to develop the three-level model for justification which gives an account for the interrelation between cognitive-psychological, epistemic and social levels of justification. As we show, such a model gives us a deeper understanding of the nature of justification and functions that it performs in cognitiveprocesses. Key words: justification, propositional knowledge, epistemology, epistemic norms, internalism and externalism, constitutive and regulative rules, structure of knowledge, skeptical arguments, evolutionary hypothesis, classical and nonclassical types of epistemology.
