Essay

The object of the research is the short magazine article as a distinct type of publicistic text in the Ukrainian, English and Russian languages. The aim of the research is to define and theoretically ground the essence of the short magazine article as a type of text, to determine invariant parameters of the content plane and the expression plane of the given type of publicistic text, to identify distinctive features differentiating short magazine articles in the three cultures studied. The methods of the research are methods of cognitive-pragmatic, contextual-semantic and contrastive analyses, mathematical statistic method. Theoretical results and novelty: for the first time a specialized analysis of the short magazine article as a multi-aspect entity and vehicle of social influence is made; cognitive and pragmatic ways of production and perception of the text in question are described; its prototypical structure is constructed; universal and culture specific properties of Ukrainian, English and Russian short magazine articles are determined. Practical results: the usage in lecture and practical courses of general linguistics, stylistics, linguistics and interpretation of text, ethnolinguistics. The sphere of application: linguistics of text.
