Object of the study: Climacteric in women who were operated on for polycystic ovary (PO) at the reproductive age. Purpose of the study: To determine the features of pre-menopause course in women with the history of PO basing on evaluation of clinical, hormonal, metabolic parameters and validation of preventive measures. Methods of the study: Analytical, clinical, biochemical, radioimmune, statistical methods were used. Practical significance: Basing on the findings of clinical laboratory study it was proven that women with PO were a high-risk group of early menopause, climacteric and metabolic syndromes, type 2 diabetes mellitus (DM), cardiovascular diseases. The revealed features of the hormonal state during the age-related rearrangement of the neuroendocrine system are the basis for individual approach to working out the schemes of treatment of possible complications of climacterics in this group of patients. The necessity of follow-up of the women with PO during the meno-pause with participation ofnot only gynecologists but also endocrinologists was substantiated. The obtained data allowed working out an information letter "Prevention of clinical, hormonal, metabolic disorders in climacterium in women who were operated for polycystic ovary at reproductive age". Novelty of the obtained results: For the first time, basing on the complex study of women with PO the character of clinical, hormonal, and metabolic disorders in various periods of perimenopause was established. It was determined that the degree of climacteric complications depended on the method (therapeutic or surgical) of PO treatment in the reproductive period. It was revealed that in women with the history of PO, androgen-estrogen balance improved with development of relative hyperandrogenemia, secretion of gonadotropins increased (mainly LH production). The features of carbohydrate and fat metabolism in perimenopause were described. It was proven that surgery in the reproductive period for PO reduced the incidence and severity of metabolicdisorders. It was determined that aging is earlier in women with the history of PO when compared with healthy women of the same age. It was established that aging rate increased with menstrual dysfunction and depended on the degree of climacteric syndrome. Prognostic significance of PO for formation of pathological climacterics and metabolic disorders was proven. Introduction: The findings of the research are used in lectures for doctors at Kharkiv Medical Academy for Post-graduate Training, as well as in the work of department of reproductive organs pathology and endocrinology of Institute of Problems of Endocrine Pathology, Center for Family Planning and Human Reproduction (Kharkiv), Maternity Hospital No. 3 (Kharkiv), Lokhvitsa Central District Hospital (Poltava Region), gynecology department of Chesrasssy Regional Hospital, City Clinical Hospital No. 3 (Lugansk), Zolochev Central District Hospital (Kharkiv Region), Sumy Regional Clinical Hospital Sphere of application: Medicine, obstetrics and gynecology.
