Essay

The thesis is devoted to the analysis of metaphor in modern Ukrainian printed mass media political discourse. The metaphor is considered not only as a stylistic figure or a way of semantic derivation, but mainly as a reflection of political meaning. On the cognitive level the main semantic types of political metaphor are defined, which gives a possibility to speak about new tendencies in forming the national language picture of the world. On the structure-morphological level it is discovered, how the morphological type of metaphor influences the stability in the evaluation of political reality. In the dissertation political metaphor is analyzed as a special type. Its role in the individual speech of a journalist is presented.
