The thesis presents a study on the system of professional competence of a teacher-speech therapist; outlines and scientifically explains the concept of "professional competence of a teacher-speech therapist", gives separate description of its components and criteria, explains its level characteristics. The model of professional competence of a teacher-speech therapist is worked out, theoretically explained and experimentally tested in the context of modern educational technologies. That model is the scientific foundation of the system of professional competence of the mentioned specialist. The conditions for formation of the professional competence of the teacher-speech therapist, basic requirements for university entrants entering the speech therapy department are outlined in the thesis.
