Puzyrenko Y. Agentive-occupational female terms in lexicographical description and usage

In the thesis, the complex approach to the study of problems of lexicographical representation of female terms and their functioning in usage is realized. The research was carried out taking into account main lexicographical problems and parameters valid for lexicographying female terms: style characteristics, representation in lexicography, masculinization, gender stereotypes, antinomy of usage/normativity etc. The treatment of female terms in translational lexicography was considered; the specifics of treatment of women terms in classifications of occupations was analyzed on the material of Ukrainian, Russian, English, Romanian, and Estonian languages. The conclusion was made that the main factors of influence on lexicographying are gender factor, the requirement of adherence to principles of systemacy and consistency, the requirement of differentiation of normative and usage approach in lexicographical practice. On the material of spoken and written texts of different styles of language and different languages as well as interviewing of respondents (derivational and associative experiments) the main factors of influence on functioning of female terms in usage: linguistic situations, masculinization, gender sensitivity, were determined.
