The dissertation deals with he character changes dynamics characteristic of convicted persons kept in custody. The manuscript covers all factors and types of delinquent behaviour and specific features of character changes that take place in the process of adaptation to the conditions of imprisonment. Elucidated were the outcomes of the experimental study of the felons' motivation and value sphere dynamics, as well as the way, in which their own life span is represented in the consciousness of criminals. Character changes in criminals were studied from two perspectives; the type of the felony and the term of imprisonment. To scrutinize the influence of the conditions of custody on the personality of the criminal, the comparative analysis of character changes was made between persons sentenced to imprisonment and those who were not imprisoned though committed felony. To optimize the personal dynamics of a criminal, the psychological correction techniques were used, which proved to be the effective meansfur correction of personality structure, providing the secure character of the process of re-socialization.
