Objective: educational process in Ukrainian Literature classes in senior forms of Secondary Comprehensive School. Aim: to develop, substantiate and experimentally test the methodology of Studying Ukrainian Emigration Prose in Senior Grades of a General Education High School. Methods: theoretical, empiric, statistical. Results: The dissertation presents a theoretically founded and experimentally tested methodology of teaching Ukrainian emigration prose in senior school. The methodology corresponds to the existentialist and dialogical conception of teaching literature in high school. The dissertation proves that in the process of working with the educational material a teacher of language and literature should emphasize the historical and literary context, as well as specific features peculiar to the works of the Ukrainian emigrant writers, and use the elements of psychoanalysis and analysis of new mythopoetic images. The proposed methodologic system justifies the high priority of use of combined systemof teaching Ukrainian emigration prose that is accomplished through utilization of a number of efficient techniques helping to develop a high motivation level, and contribute to a profound comprehension of study material by senior students. The methodology comprises: school lectures with student involvement for assistance purposes; reflective conversations aiming to develop a psychological motivation to read, a psychological way to "fit into an image", an imaginative and symbolic perception; and use of challenging and cognitive tasks, disputes, individual and group role playing. The study contains specific material that can be taken advantage of in order to further improvement of the educational process in high school.
