Language category modality that reflects the relationship of the utterance to reality from the speaker's point of view. The aim is to analyse structural-content peculiarity of subject modality and modality of probability. The methods are functional-semantic, contextual, the method of transformation, comparative, quantitative. The authenticity of semantics and structure of subject modality and modality of probability categories on the material of Ukrainian, Russian, French and English languages was elucidated for the first time.
