Larbi M. The improvement of fuel supply processes of slow-speed diesels

The thesis is devoted to questions of efficiency increase of technical operation of diesel ship power installations, namely increase of their economy and reliability. Mathematical models, methods and programs of computer calculations of hydrodynamic processes of fuel injection and diesel engine working processes which were a base for a calculation-analytical experimental research are created. The complex research of fuel supply and working processes of a diesel engine has allowed to establish the influence of clearance on these processes and to define the limiting clearance significances allowable in operation, and also to develop practical recommendations to increase clearances, and hence to increase the operation terms of the fuel equipment. The developed methods of calculations and results of researches allow to give an appreciation of a technical condition and modernization of the fuel equipment of maintained diesel engines with the purpose to increase their economy and reliability in all operational modes range. Now practical results of the research work are introduced in four shipping companies and a ship-repair yard of Ukraine and Algeria.
