Essay

Steroid glycoalcaloids - natural toxins. To develop a biosensor for quantitative analysis of steroid glycoalcaloids. Biochemical and electrochemical methods for determination of enzymatic reaction, thin-layer chromatography, methods for detection of steroid glycoalcaloids action. Potentiometric sensor based on butyrylcholinesterase for quantitative analysis of steroid glycoalcaloids in both model and real samples has been developed. The SGA inhibition effect on immobilized butyrylcholinesterase is shown to be reversible and competitive. Several approaches to the selective determination of steroid glycoalcaloids have been proposed. The developed biosensor was used for testing of potato juice and good correlation of the results with thin-layer chromatography ones was demonstrated. The area of application is health protection and food industry.
