Zadorozhna R. Methodological principles of statistical research of social structure of society

Object of the research: the Ukrainian society as a societal system. Aim of the research: substantiation of methodological principles of statistic research of the social structure and their application in the analysis of the structure of the modern Ukrainian society. Methods of the research: dialectical logic, abstracting, formalization, systemic approach, modeling, statistic grouping methods and multidimensional classification, study of phenomena variation, differentiation and dynamics, diagram and graphic methods. Theoretical and practical results: assessment of adequacy of the social structure concepts to the current peculiarities of the Ukrainian society and substantiation of methodological principles of statistic research of the society social structure. The results of the research have been used in the author's publications, speeches at conferences and in the activity of the Ukrainian State Committee of Statistics. Scientific novelty manifests itself in the formulation, theoretical substantiationand practical fulfillment of the tasks of improving methods of statistic research of the social structure pf society in the period of transition from the command-administrative to the free-market economy. In the process of the research we have obtained the following results containing scientific novelty: for the first time: we have systematized the existing approaches to study of the society social structure and substantiated the advantages of applying theories of social stratification as the theoretical basis for research which enables the application of statistical methods of multidimensional classification; we have adapted methods of the cluster analysis and multidimensional ranking to the research of social structure through identification of homogeneous social groups by a set of characteristics, which enabled the analysis of the structure of the modern Ukrainian society; we have proved the expediency of application in the practical research of the social differentiation of various groups of population (households) by their purchasing power based on their minimum cost of living, which enables to define qualitatively different by their living standards groups of population; further development has been given to: the methods of standardization of indices of associative multiplicity in calculation of multidimensional integral evaluations on the basis of the master data; the procedure of substantiation of the weight coefficients of indices of associative multiplicity of multidimensional integral evaluations; the system of criteria of identification of the middle class as part of the social structure of the society; analysis of the phenomena of status incompatibility as a specific feature of a transitive society; further improvement has been given to: methodological approaches to the development of systematic criteria of the complex evaluation of poverty. Stage of implementation: the results of the research have been used in the analytical practices of the department for inspection of households under the StateCommittee of Statistics of Ukraine, namely, the proposals on improvement of methods of complex evaluation of poverty, and in the curricular of the Bila Tserkva branch of the State Academy of Statistics, Accounting and Audit under the State Committee of Statistics of Ukraine, namely, in lecturing the course "Social and Economic Statistics". Effectiveness of implementation: ensures development of the social statistics in the sphere of research of the social structure of the society; enhances the accuracy and completeness of information on peculiarities and trends in the process of structuring and stratification of the society, which facilitates a higher level of scientific substantiation of activities in the social and economic policy. Sphere (field) of application: analytical practices of the state statistical bodies, state authorities and sociological institutions.
