The situation in coal industry and peculiarities of economic activity carried out by non-state owned Chinese mines were examined. It was found that the labour motives was not a subject of systemic economic study. Previously, the qualitative evaluation of motivation factors was given, but their quantitative estimation, rating and priority highlighting was never carried out. The study of formation and activity of non-state owned enterprises, including coal mines of new China, was carried out. The correlation between the gross of Gross National Product, development of private economy and improvement of its economic basis was shown. The forms of management and control at non-state owned enterprises was studied. The approval of strategic managerial decisions by main investor decreased within the period from 1999 till 2004 from 63.6 to 39.7 %, and the joint decisions of main investor and manager increased from 20.7 to 29.6 %. The dependence between the educational level of non-state owned enterprises' management and their scale was established, while taking into consideration within this dependency the specific weight of businessmen upon their level of education, their share among the management of large enterprises and among the bankrupted businessmen. The author has developed methods of study of motivation priorities using NMU matrix, methods of labour motivation factors rating, methods of labour motivation factors with taking into account of their age, qualification and complexity of works they are involved into, methods of mines research. In accordance with developed methods, the economic and sociological studies at non-state owned mine "Yong Cun" were carried out and compared with results of similar studies at state owned mine "Cun Zuang". By means of timing measurements in mine conditions the efficiency of the work of the teams which were formed with taking into consideration of labour motivation was evidenced.
