The thesis highlights the international legal aspects of Ukraine's succession in the context of new trends in Law of State Succession.To this end the author analyzes the conceptual structure of State Succession Law,traditional and modern approaches thereto,suggests a new 'level of indentity'-based approach to state succession,critically analyzes the common views on the qualification of territorial changes in the USSR,determines Ukraine's status in consequence of the USSR collapse,as well as the procedure and the specific features of Ukraine's succession in respect of the state territory and border,treaties and membership in international organizations,state property,archives and debts and studies the consequences of Ukraine's succession for nationaly and private persons rights
