The complex investigation of the first daily Ukrainian newspaper "Gromadska Dumka" / "Rada" published in Kyiv in 1905-1914 has been done. The process of the formation, development and the conditions of functioning of the daily newspaper have been studied. The evaluation of the newspaper's contribution to the history of the national patriotic press of the early XXs has been done. The author analyses the state, conditions specific features of the newspaper's publication and also characterizes its ideological priorities under the conditions of public, social and economic processes in Naddnipryanska Ukraine at the beginning of the 20th century. The author touches upon the actual problem of the national patriotic press survival under the conditions when Ukraine was a part of the Russian empire, the interrelations of mass-media and national idea. The essence of the dissertation proves that the daily newspaper "Gromadska Dumka" / "Rada" during the whole period of its existence in the informational space of Naddnipryanska Ukraine had a great influence on the vast audience of readers, defended the idea of Ukraine's autonomy, the right for the existence of national schools, the language and culture.
