The dissertation focuses on the essence of a future English teacher’s professional competence is defined as well as its structure and components, including aims and motivation, content, practical, evaluating and self-regulating components. It is determined that sociocultural competence is a key component in the structure of professional competence. It is theoretically proved that success of the formation of the professional competence depends on the usage of a specially organized pedagogical technique “dialogue of cultures”. The steps of the development of professional competence with the help of the appropriate kinds of the pedagogical technique “dialogue of cultures” are worked out and experimentally tested. The effectiveness of the worked out professional competence technique is proved by the results of the experimental work.
