The dissertation is devoted to elaboration of the scientific-methodical principles of the geographical maps content renovation on the base of their ag-ing estimation. The crux of maps aging and renewing processes is determined. The indi-cations of aging phenomenon are formulated. The conception of the conven-tional aging unit is introduced into practice and the methods of it's estimation are substantiated on example of the social-economical maps. The kernel of the map renovation process and the basic conceptions con-tent are determined, the methodical schemes of their practical realization are offered. Significance of the practical renewing process is offered as an impor-tant gear in the process of cartographical activities improving. Role of the basic maps in the renovation of the thematical ones are determined. The methods of GIS technologies introducing into the social-economical maps renewing are substantiated and approbated.
