Essay

Object: heterotic breeding of carrot. Aim: creation of native male sterile carrot lines of petaloid type with the help of microreproduction and experimental haploid. Methods: biotechnological, breeding-genetic, mathematic-statistic ones. Novelty: for the first time in Ukraine there is created a method of microreproduction of carrot breeding samples and carrot lines with male sterility. Ways of early vernalization of carrot microcloned plants are proposed. The analysis of morphological and quantitafive signs of reproduced in culture in vitro carrot plants is conducted. Influence of donor organs of an inflorescence (buds and leaves) and phases of development of carrot donor plants n morphogenic properties of their tissues in vitro is determined. Correlation links between biometrie parameters of breeding samples in vivo and morphogenic properties of their tissues in vitro are reveled. Results: there is created a low-expendable and effective technology of carrot breeding samples microreproduction. It is determined that optimal donor organs for microreproduction of carrot plants of the second year of life are buds. Correlations are reveled between economically-valuable signs of carrot breeding samples and morphogenic properties of their tissues in culture in vitro. By two speeded up breeding schemes, wluch include microreproduction and experimental haploidy, there are created 13 carrot lines with male sterility. Degree of Introduction: there are published 2 methods, handed in 1 patent application, created 13 male sterile carrof lines, 6 from which are given tothe National Plant Genetic Resources Centre of Ukraine. Field of Introduction: scientific -breeding centres of cultured plants of Ukraine.
