Essay

Object: variation and inheritance of quantitative traits in fiber flax. Aim: widening genetic diversity of fiber flax by hybridization of cultivars belonging to different ecogeographical origin. Methods: field, laboratory, biochemical, statistical and genetical analysis. Novelty: there have been established some peculiarities in variation of the reaction norm in fiber flax cultivars to the weather conditions of growing, inheritance and types of genetic regulation of traits. Results: there have been relesed and recommended for breeding 7 cultivars-sources and donors as to the complex of economical traits: 4 - with increased oil content, there has been created the original material which is superior to the standard by stem weight, fiber weight, stem fiber content, fiber quality. Application stage: breeding programs of the Institute for Fiber crops UAAS and the Institute of Agriculture. Application area: selection, plant breeding.
