In the thesis the methodological basis of Ancient History school textbook for the 6-th form students were investigated. Main stages and peculiarities of Ancient History school textbook creation in the middle of ХIХ-th and the beginning of XXІ-th centuries were characterized. The up-to-date model of Ancient History school textbook was worked out. It includes didactic (functions of the textbook, principles of its content selection and construction) and psychological aspects (content construction of teaching material according to the instructional stages, process aspects supporting and individual characteristics of the 6-th form students).
