Essay

Object - viral diseases at wild birds, ornithofauna as a reservoir of poultry infections agents. Purpose - to study epizootic situation among wild birds concerning poultry viral diseases and to study the role of wild birds as a reservoir of these infections. Methods: epizootological, virological, immunological, serological, statistical. Results: There was revealed infection of 4 species of wild migratory water-fowl, 9 species of synanthropic birds and also of 11 background species of birds from East and South of Ukraine, which are not bound up with poultry, with agents of Newcastle disease, influenza, chicken infectious bronchitis, infectious laringotracheitis, Gamboro disease, goose viral enteritis. Presence of antibodies to Newcastle disease was demonstrated by agent isolation from pathological material. Program of permanent epizootological monitoring of wild birds was proposed. Novelty: For the fist time in Ukraine there was conducted epizootological monitoring of water-fowl, synanthropic birds andbirds of background species. Results supply modern conception of infectious diseases agents circulation among representatives of ornithological fauna. Methods of preparation and use in immunological reactions extracts of wild bird eggs yolks were developed. This enables to simplify investigations of wild birds. Introduction: methodical recommendations "Epizootological monitoring and diagnostics of infectious diseases at wild birds", two declaratory patents. Field of introduction: veterinary medicine.
