Essay

Object – educational speech activity of first-formers. Aim – to define pedagogical terms, methods, ways of work and to develop the didactic equipment for developing oral speech; to substantiate theoretically and to approve in experimental way the methods of developing oral speech of first-formers while teaching them reading and writing. Methods – theoretical, empiric, statistical. Theoretical results and novelty – the author is the first to prove dependence between the level of development of oral speech of first-formers and expedience of selecting exercises; to develop the linguodidactical model, criteria, indices and levels of development of oral speech of first-formers while teaching them reading and writing; to ascertain pedagogical terms of developing pupils’ oral speech in the process of teaching reading and writing; to specify methods, ways and means of forming abilities and skills of oral speech considering requirements to educational speech activity. The methods of developing coherent speech of junior pupils acquired further development. Practical results and novelty – set of methods for developing oral speech, determination of kinds and appropriate set of exercises, development of methods of forming skills of oral speech of first-formers. Subject and degree of introduction – methods of developing speech of the first-formers when teaching them reading and writing. Efficiency of introduction – high. Branch – pedagogical, comprehensive schools.
