Essay

The dissertation presents a study on the general and the specific in the approaches to the education system reforming, together with its social consequences and latent problems in China and Ukraine, with the aim of making a systemic prognosis of social problems and conceivable effect of reforming transformations in the sphere of education and developing some optimal technologies of eliminating the social challenges which can become acute. The dissertation gives an outline of the worldwide tendencies in the development of education in the process of information dominated society formation, laying a particular emphasis upon the specific nature of education as a social institution and highlighting the current characteristics of social relations in the sphere of education within the context of sociocultural strategies of the world's highly developed countries. Prerequisites that necessitated the latest educational reform in China and the essence of this reform under market economy are considered alongsidethe analysis of the educational framework in Ukraine and the tendencies in reforming the Ukrainian system of education in the transition period. The similarities and differences in the social problems and outcome of the education reforms in China and Ukraine are examined in the light of the quality of education, faculty and staff procurement, and the social status of Chinese and Ukrainian schoolchildren and students.
