Essay

The thesis elaborates the international and political aspects of establishing and development of the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP). The transformation of the notions of "security" and "defence" as well as the evolution of the forms of European countries' security cooperation between 1648 and 2005 is followed up too. The ESDP is also analyzed in the context of: basic concepts of the Theory of International Relations, a security strategy development, evolution of institutional and procedural mechanisms. The relationship of the EU as a regional security organization with the NATO, the OSCE and the UN is analyzed. The EU-Ukraine cooperation has also been researched.
