The object of research: the processes of formation and development of social market economy under system transformation conditions as well as the ways of institutional formation of social market economy models. The aim of research: determining the genesis, principles, aims, measures and institutional system of social market economy as well as possibilities of its use under system transformation conditions. Methods of research: institutional, systems, historical, comparative, statistical, causal analysis. Results, novelty: theoretical view of institutional nature of social market economy and peculiarities of its formation under market transformation conditions has been expanded; a set of recommendations directed to formation and development of institutional system of the national social market economy has been proposed
