Figol N. E. Chikalenko and newspaper "Rada" in forming of press language at the beginning of the twentieth century

The thesis is devoted to the investigation of the features of Ukrainian-language press forming at the beginning of the twentieth century. The great importance in this process of E. Chikalenko as a patron and publisher has been shown, he did not spare on the development of Ukrainian press neither time, nor means nor health. On the example of daily newspaper "Rada" the linguistic features of press of this period have been analyzed. "Rada" orthographic features have been described, they are marked by a certain inconsistence. It has been found out that the newspaper was printed by the phonetic spelling and belonged to editions of East Ukraine not only on territorial but also on linguistic features. The lexical composition of "Rada" has been investigated, it fully represents the realities of that time, is characterized by high level of development, shows the attempts of editors, journalists to connect vividness, emotionality of exposition with logic, exactness of exposition. The most various languages means, polysemy, tropes, were used for this purpose (synonyms, antonyms, paronyms, epithets and others like that). Described syntactic facilities help in solving of one of the basic tasks of press - not only to inform but also to have influence on a reader. For achievement of this purpose the varied syntactic constructions were used: simple, complicated sentences, difficult sentences of different types.
