Kostyuchok P. Ethnic-political and nation-cultural processes in the Hutsuls' land in the context of forming Ukrainian nation (the end of theXIXth century - 1939).

The dissertation is devoted to studying ethnic-political and nation-cultural processes in the Hutsuls' land in the context of forming Ukrainian nation (the end of the XIXth century - 1939). Based on the great number of sources, there had been represented the main sense and ways of the social-political, social- economic and culture-educational processes; the main factors and mechanisms of ethnic and political studying of a Hutsul ethnographic group. Ethnic-political processes in the Hutsuls' land came to the contrasting of the two ways: national consolidation and national assimilation. In the research there have been analysed the peculiarities of ethnic-political and nation-cultural development of the Hutsuls' historical ethnographic region and its component parts; investigated the factors, mechanisms and dynamic of a national identity with the Hutsuls' ethnographic group. There have been observed practical realisation of the ethnic politics that had a bad influence on the national development of Hutsuls. This caused an uneven going of the identifying processes in the Hutsul ethnographic group's surrounding. There have been proved the fact that, in spite of the considerable nation-political, culture-educational and household-economic obstacles, the group of Ukrainian Hutsuls was identified as a part of Ukrainian nation having paid first more attention to the ethnic-cultural factors and then to political ethnicity.
