Essay

The proposed thesis is aimed at studying of craft and vocational education as a factor in preserving the tradition and development of artistic textiles. Chronological boundaries cover the period from the second half of the XIXth century to the beginning of the XXI century. In the scientific work is considers the formation and development of professional education in the domain of artistic textiles. Among the factual sources, the main ones are: the funds of the Central State Historical Archive of Lviv (CSHAL) and the State Archive of Lviv Region (SALR), Archive of Lviv National Academy of Arts (LNAA). These sources form the documentary basis of the study. With their help were revealed of the structure and methodical priorities of art education in the textile centers of the Lviv district of the Kingdom of Galicia and Volodymyriya: Lviv Professional College of Decorative and Applied Arts by the name Ivan Trush (LPCDAA) and Lviv National Academy of Arts (LNAA). The result of the research is the analysis of the structure of art education, the author’s differentiation of textile schools, the industrial bases of LNAA practices, the pedagogical methods, the priorities of development of educational institutions of Lviv region in the domain of artistic textiles during this period. It was established that in the artistic textiles and educational practice of the studied region there was a borrowing of the experience of other states, but this experience was interpreted according to the Ukrainian ethnic culture and throughout history did not change the national identity.
