Essay

Object: the process of professional training of teachers of foreign languages in higher educational establishments; aim: to prove theoretically the essence of Country Studies as a component of professional training of teachers of foreing language, to check experimentally pedagogical conditions for forming Country Studies competence of teachers of foreign languages in higher educational establishments; methods: the analysis of literature, questionaire, observation, experiment; novelty: the theoretic-methodological analysis was realized for the first time, pedagogical conditions of usage of Country Studies as a component of professional training of teachers of foreign languages were experimentally checked, criteria for the selection of Country Studies materials were defined; results: the manual entitled «Movie Guide», multimedia computer programmes on Country Studies, and the course program were implemented in the teaching process in the teacher training curriculum; sphere: professional education.
