The research object is the development of zoological science of the last fourth of XIX-th - the beginning of XX-th century. The research subject is an activity of N.A. Zarudnyj in the branch of zoology (ornithological fauna, systematic, zoogeography and ecology) and also research of the fauna of vertebral animals.. Tasks put in work, we had permited with the help of general scientific receptions of research (typology, classification), inter subject (structural - system approach), own historical (chronological, rather - historical, descriptive), and also methods of source study and historiographical analysis and synthesis.
