. Object – higher pedagogical education of Japan at the 2nd half of the XX century; aim – analyse and generalize the theoretical ideas and practical experience of teacher training in Japan in higher educational institutions of Japan at the 2nd half of the XX century; methods – analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization, historical and pedagogical retrospective, system and structural, problematic and purposeful; novelty – at first in Ukrainian pedagogical science the process of teacher training in higher educational institutions of Japan is examined and analysed; results – social and historical prerequisites of the developing teacher training system are analysed; it is stated that as a result of post-war reforms of pedagogical education on the basis of combining the foreign experience and national traditions the effective system of teacher training in Japan, which is implemented by higher educational institutions, national, prefectural and municipal educational establishments and schools, has beencreated.
