Essay

The thesis deals with the problem of anxiety in junior school students. In the process of study, the meaning was clarified for the following terms: anxiety, fear, personal anxiety, anxiety state, anxious feelings, situational anxiety, adaptive anxiety state, dis-adaptive anxiety state, psychological correction, psychotherapy. Introduced are such terms as deep-seated sense of consistency and deep sense of anxious feelings. The thesis comprises the modified diagnostic techniques intended for investigation of anxiety state in the classroom and outside of school. Elaborated was the method for research on internal and external characteristics of anxiety state. The evidence was found that anxious feelings are of significant importance for the ontogenesis of a child, and their adaptive forms occurrence is crucial for the adequate personal development. It was shown that the successful psychological correction of dis-adaptive anxiety state in children requires working not only with their external manifestations, but with their internal characteristics as well. The psychological correction program was developed and tested, elaboration of which included the meticulous study of the deep constituent inherent in the dis-adaptive form of anxiety state in junior school students.
