Vovkotrub Y. The history of the development of applied mechanics in Ukraine in the 19h - first quarter of the 20th century.

The dissertation exposes the process of originating, forming and developing of applied mechanics in Ukraine in the 19h - first quarter of the 20th century. It discovered and explored the main scientific trends of evolution of Applied Mechanics in Ukraine in outlining period, specifically the studies about mechanisms and strength of materials, dynamics of engines, and basis of machine science. Four stages are marked out in the development of Applied Mechanics in Ukraine before the first quarter of the 20th century such as, from the 17th century till the beginning of the 19th century; the first half of the 19th century, the second half of the 19th century, the first quarter of the 20th century. The first writing work in Applied Mechanics was revealed "The Theory of Machines" (1826; the 2nd edition, 1829) F. Mekhovych. The role of M. Dyachenko, I. Rakhmaninov, V. Ligin, Kh. Gokhman, was exposed in the forming and development of Applied Mechanics in Ukraine. The contribution of nature scientists of machinescience in the development of Applied Mechanics of the researched period was characterized. Thus, due to this scientific work the gap in the native historiography in the question of genesis and evolution of Applied Mechanics in Ukraine in the 19th - first quarter of the 20th century was filled.
