The dissertation examines the methodological principles of historic figures coverage in domestic school historical education in the thirties-eighties of the XX century. There have been defined and substantiated the nature of the historical-methodological phenomenon in question. The main concepts of "historic figure", "historic figures coverage in school courses of history" have been framed. There has been developed a periodization of historical-methodological research of historic figures coverage in school courses of history: I period (1934 - the second half of the 1950s); II period (the end of the 1950s - 1980s). The second period has been divided into two stages: 1st stage (the end of the 1950s - the 1960s); the 2nd stage (the 1970s - the 1980s). The reasons which influenced the development of the phenomenon under consideration have been given and characterized. There have been shown tendencies of the development of methodology of historic figures coverage in school historical science. The dissertation contains recommendations on optimization of historical experience under conditions of development of school historical science within the context of historic figures coverage. These recommendations will be useful for the authors of standards of education, history curriculums, textbooks and school-books authors.
