Essay

The dissertation focuses on how the "image of Self" is developing in orphans who live in boarding schools. The peculiarities of the system of "images of Self" identified with orphan adolescents were theoretically substantiated and empirically tested. The evidence was found that status and role categories were important in the system of "images of Self" existing with boarding schools alumni, while in case of general school pupils, social and activity categories were also included. The author proves that the Self-conception structure in orphan adolescents is poorly differentiated, and their idea of themselves is conditioned by opinions and standardized regulations of significant others.
