Essay

The symbolism of characters and playing objects is characterized. The author has examined the play's culture of the Slobodian Ukrainian children in the late nineteenth - the early twentieth centuries from the standpoint of the presence of the dragonslayer's motifs and the characters with double symbolism. It is proving that during the play the players gain liminal features, assigned to them with the help of appropriate terminology. Proposed to investigate child's play in the light of the "rites of passage" and has traced the stages, characteristic of a passage ceremonial, in it.
