Romanyuk S. Journalistic, Editorial and Publishing Activity of Oleksandr Barvins'kyi

The thesis presents a complex research of journalistic, editorial and publishing activity of Oleksandr Barvins'kyi, one of the most distinguished figures of the Ukrainian ethnic culture of the late 19th and early 20th c., who dedicated his entire life to the cultural, social and political advance of Galicia. The thematic tendencies of O. Barvins'kyi's publications are identified, as well as the peculiarities of his coverage of public and political, cultural and in particular educational problems and the importance he ascribed to creation of quality journalism. Special attention is given to his contribution to solving organizational and publishing problems of the periodicals Pravda and Dilo. The author analyzes O. Barvins'kyi's experience as an editor in a number of Galician periodicals, as well as his versatile publishing activity.
