In this thesis the market conditions (historical, political and economical) and the legal basis of Chinese local newspaper market forming, the transformation of typological structure and newspaper industry models forming during the transition to market relations (1978-2005) after reforming and opening are studied. In this work local newspaper market conditions and prospects in Chinese information community are analyzed. Chongqing newspaper market is considered separately, where competitive press market hasn't yet been formed, but which is attractive for future investments. Subjects, genres and newspaper advertisement on the example of five daily chongqing city newspapers, which represent the majority of local press market, are analyzed. Also the tabloidization of local press along with its commercialization is studied. In this research the local newspaper market models according to the competition level under certain local economical and political conditions are created by the researcher. The author came to a conclusion about different factors of local press market during the industrialization.
