The manuscript is devoted to the research of scientific activity of B.G. Ivanytsky in the branch of agro-forestland and reclamation, forest typology, ecology, dendrology, botany, assessment, the protection of forest, the history of science, and also his role in the organization of scientifically- educational process in the Ukrainian territories and abroad. The research had been realized with principle of historical method. The problems, stated in the work, were achieved with the aid of the principle of historical method. By the methods of study were selected historical-scientific, dialectical-logical, objectively-chronological, statistical and descriptive. It is carried out the historic-comparative analysis of domestic and foreign literary and archive sources; study and the generalization of historical and pedagogical literature, of state papers of the selected period; analysis, synthesis, comparison, generalization and the systematization of factual material, etc.
