Kulikov Y. Tomato initial material for breeding on heterosis at the film hothouse conditions

Subject: tomato breeding and heterotic hybrid selection in plastic houses. Aim: to develop and determine a breeding value of the original material and on its basis to obtain tomato heterotic hybrids for plastic houses. Methods: visual, measuring weight, chemical, mathematical-statistical, calculated. Novelty: there was estimated a breeding value of the existing and developed original material grown in plastic houses; there are improved some selection methods for lines with the populations from different types of crosses and selective areas. Results: there are established some peculiarities of tomato heterotic selection under plastic house conditions; there are developed some lines with economic traits on the basis of which there were obtained the heterotic hybrids of tomatoes, such as: Barmalei and Yatran. Application stage: by the author's participation there have been developed the heterotic hybrids: one of these - Barmalei is registered in the Variety dist of Ukraine in 2007 and Yatran is recognizedas promising in 2006.
