Object - selection and estimation of corn lines and hybrids for the main agricultural traits. Aim - estimation new short-season material, wich created with participation of early-maturing and middle-late lines of different plasmas and selection of best hybrid, adopted to the condition of the Steppe of Ukraine. Methods - field researches. A method of topcross. Analysis of economic signs variation. Novelty - a perspective of use of new initial material at selection of early maturing and middle-early maturing new inbred lines of corn was proved. The possibility of breeding the more short-season analoguesof Lancaster plasma lines in the next generations of selfpollination was confirmed experimentally. Results - the best geteroses model is Iodent х Lancaster for effective selection of early-maturity hybrids was defined. Lines with by complex of valuable traits were defined.
