The dissertation is dedicated to researching of the procedural status of the investigator in the criminal procedure of Ukraine. In this scientist work the essential and the elements of the procedural status of the investigator were pointed. Also were researched processеs of the origin and the historical development of the pre-trial investigation bodies on the present-day Ukraine territory. The analysis of the procedural functions, rights and duties, guarantees of the practice of the investigator and his responsibility for the infringement was realized. The procedural position of the pre-trial investigation bodies of foreign states (France, Germany, Great Britain, USA, Moldova Republic) were researched. There are propositions for the perfection of the procedural status of the investigator in the Criminal Procedure of Ukraine were contributed.
