Essay

Object: traditional world view and consuetudes-ceremonial culture of Ukrainians of Carpathians. Aim: historical-ethnographic reconstruction and complex scientific description of layer of consuetudes-ceremonial and world view phenomena, related to sacralness and functionality of water in folk tradition. Methods: field supervision, comparative-historical, comparative, cross-cultural comparisons, structural-semantic and semiotics. Results: first on the basis of complex analysis of ethnographic, folklore, ethnic-linguistic information historical-ethnologic research of symbolism, sacralness and functionality of water in consuetudes-ceremonial sphere of the Ukrainian highlanders is done. Sphere of use: scientific, educational.
