Kasheta I. "Means of Rendering the Slavonic Syntax in Meletij Smotryc'kyj's Variant of Ruthenian Language (Rhetorical Aspect)"

Research object: syntactical units of different levels (word-combinations, simple and compound sentences, cycles of sentences), which are presented in the text of Meletij Smotryc'kyj's Homilary Gospel of 1616, and their Slavonic equivalents from the text of the Krylos Homilary Gospel of 1606. Research purpose: to find out the main differences between the syntax of the Ruthenian language, presented by the Smotryc'kyj Variant, and the syntax of the Slavonic Language, presented in Krylos Homilary Gospel, and to determine specific syntactical methods of rhetorical writing in the Ruthenian language of the beginning of the XVII century. Research methods: comparing-historical, descriptive, the method of the statistic analysis. Results, novelty is determined by the following: the dissertation is the first try of the syntactical analysis of the Ruthenian language of Meletij Smotryc'kyj Variant and learning of the rhetorical features of its confessional style; syntactic system of the Ruthenian language is studied in comparison with the Slavonic syntax as one of the sources of its forming. Innovative is the rhetorical aspect of studying the syntactical phenomena. Sphere of use: the courses of the history of Ukrainian literary language and Rhetoric in the institutions of higher education, special courses and science seminars, lexicography (glossary).
