Essay

The thesis deals with teaching business interaction in English to senior students of technical institutions of higher learning. The contents of spoken business interaction (BI) of engineers in English, theoretical substantiation of methods for teaching senior students of technical institutions of higher learning to interact in English for specific purposes, and creation of an exercise complex for teaching spoken BI in English (BI of nuclear engineers is taken as an example). Skills necessary for listening comprehension and speaking during BI are described as well as a system of principles of teaching technical students BI. The contents of BI of nuclear engineers are defined in terms of communication spheres, macrosituations, and typical communicative situations. A criteria system for assessment of students' BI has been worked out. Theoretical substantiation has been made and an exercise complex has been created for teaching future nuclear engineers to interact orally in English for specific purposes. The effectiveness of the suggested methods has been confirmed during experimental teaching. Methodological recommendations on how to organize teaching senior students of technical institutions of higher learning BI in English have been developed and applied in practice in three institutions of higher learning in Ukraine
