Syvenko V. Developmental peculiarities of sunflower lines and hybrids of oleic type

Subject: development of sunflower lines and hybrids of oleic type. Aim: to define peculiarities for the development of lines-restorers of pollen fertility with high donor properties as to oleic acid content and high combining ability with different economic traits at breeding sunflower hybrids of oleic type. Methods: field, laboratory, statistical. Novelty: there are established the peculiarities for variation in fatty-acid composition of oil in sunflower lines and hybrids; there is elaborated a new scheme of breeding for lines and hybrids of oleic type. Results: there are developed 13 high-oleic, resistant to a group of pathogenes, lines-restorers of pollen fertility with high content of oil in seeds with the oleic acid level reaching 85,36-91,72%. Application stage: there are released 7 sunflower hybrids of oleic type, out of these, 4 have entered the Plant Variety List of Ukraine and 3 ones are being under the state trialing. Application area: breeding institutions, AIC of Ukraine.
